Future Plans

On behalf of the Government of Ras Al-Khaimah and the Department of Civil Aviation, we sincerely thank you for visiting our website.

With great advancements in aviation, it has become imperative for civil aviations and airports to follow this dynamic growth.

Our objective is not only to boost the Department of Civil Aviation and Ras Al-Khaimah International Airport in the emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah, but also to promote sustainable tourism within it.

We play a significant role in enhancing the tourist population in Ras Al-Khaimah, as through the emirate it is possible to reach a third of the world’s population within a 4-hour flight, making it an ideal destination for investment, living and work. We have shown a massive rise of 61% in tourist and resident movement and 64% increase in new aviation companies plus the signing of several new international agreements for aviation investment in Ras Al-Khaimah.

The Department of Civil Aviation, Ras Al-Khaimah, has implemented various long-term strategic objectives, which have been adopted to support the overall growth. The primary remit is to provide quality services to the customers with our E-services, so they have access to us from anywhere in the world. Other initiatives include the qualification and training of UAE Nationals within the aviation sector, as well as focus on environmental sustainability by providing value towards the national emission reduction plan as a committed team member.

With many renowned credentials under our belt, one of the certificate’s, we have achieved is the ISO Energy management. This is also aligned with Ras Al-Khaimah emirate’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Strategy 2040, which coincides with the vision of Ras Al-Khaimah, to achieve at least a 30% savings in electricity consumption and a 20% contribution from renewable energy by 2040.

Other certificates include, ISO Environmental management, Innovation management, Quality management and Business continuity management certificates. We also won the Arab award for social responsibility in the small government institutions category, which is aligned with the year of sustainability.

Ras Al-Khaimah International Airport has adopted new technologies in order to be at par with the best international aviation hubs. Expansion plans include the development of the arrival halls as well as the opening of new terminals to accommodate more flights, which will, in turn, play a major role in the increase of scheduled and seasonal flights to the emirate.

Ras Al-Khaimah International Airport’s proximity to the ports gives it an added advantage of access to the air-sea cargo corridor. There are future development plans in place to increase air cargo activity and to provide more logistical options and opportunities so that more cargo and aircraft maintenance companies flock to the emirate to set up operations.
